DESCRIPTION: Gravitex is a tough, hard durable coating designed to reproduce the manufacturers original stone chip finish. It will protect against stone chips, salt, damp and rust. Gravistex will also help to deaden sound and vibrations and is therefore, ideal for application to panels and inside engine compartments. The high build formula will cover weld marks and seams, often in one application.

SURFACE PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: Gravitex can be used on the following surfaces:-

  • Suitable prepared bare metal. For overcoating aluminium, ACID#8 etch primer is recommended.
  • Original paint surfaces (with the exception of thermoplastic acrylics)

Thoroughly clean and degrease old paint surfaces with a suitable spirit wipe or thinner. Wet sand with 400 grit paper. For bare metal use 180 grit paper. Re-clean and dry.

APPLICATION: Shake the can before use. Apply with a clean Schutz gun or brush. Allow approximately 10-15 minutes for the solvent to flash off when building a thick coat.

THINNERS: Gravitex is supplied ready for use, no thinners are required. However, up to 5% of good quality cellulose thinners may be added to vary the texture. Use cellulose thinners or similar proprietary products to clean the gun after use.

BUILD AND PRESSURE: Shake the can before use. Apply with a clean Schutz gun or brush. Allow approximately 10-15 minutes for the solvent to flash off when building a thick coat.

DRYING TIME: Approximately 2 hours at normal shop temperatures or 30 minutes at low bake (80°C). Drying time is dependant on film thickness, humidity and temperature.

OVER-PAINTING: Gravitex may be over-painted with most paint systems. With 2 pack acrylic paints it can be over-painted wet on wet. For optimum gloss and durability the use of a primer is recommended.
